I specialize in issues on legacy migration,  enterprise architecture, IT Operations Best Practises (i.e.ITIL) and project management. I do limited speaking & consulting engagements on these topics. Additionally, I do some web site consulting, including project management for limited projects. I have constructed the Olympic Peninsula Environmental News web site, now active for 1 year.

Currently, I am engaged in a one year project for Microsoft. Not available for new projects until March 2009.

I am an 11 year veteran of Microsoft. I held a number of roles there, including Network Engineering Manager, Operations Manager for Expedia, Technical Evangelist and Manager of Technical Evangelism. I created and was the project lead for the Mainframe Migration field efforts, primarily in a technical marketing and sales role. I spent 6 months establishing a team in London. Worked extensively in Europe at that time, mainly directly discussing enterprise computing technologies and their application in the enterprise and government, in meetings with key executives.

Prior to that job, I worked as management of computer services for Physio Control (a subsidiary then of Eli Lilly), and in numerous sales and marketing roles in the 1980's. My background includes experience in network design, Windows, UNIX, Macintosh and other, now dead, systems.

I have been on the University of Washington Board of Advisors and have created and taught extension classes there since 1990. Not currently teaching though.

I am also on the Board of Directors of
People for Puget Sound, a leading environmental organization in Washington State.
