I'm lucky to be married into the Bailey family. Jo Bailey, my wife's mother, was the woman who, along with Al Cummings and later Carl Nyberg, brought those of us who sail in the Pacific NW the wonderfully quirky but very useful "Gunkholing" series of books. These included:
  • Gunkholing in the San Juan Islands
  • Gunkholing in the Gulf Islands
  • Gunkholing in Desolation Sound and Princess Louisa

Sadly, these books are out of print, and a bit dated, in terms of their information. However, we are planning an expedition to revisit the Gunkholing series soon! Hopefully with all the quirkiness you'd expect, and adding a whole lot of new twists to the old stories. Due to other commitments with the Voices of the Strait project, we could not start in 2010. We'll try again in 2011. With some luck from the weather gods, and a little wind in our baggy old sails, we just might be able to bring you an update to the old series! Stay tuned!
